If you have any pain or discomfort from wearing your duty belt for long hours, the BackUpBrace is what you need.
Place it on your duty belt to spread the load and relieve pain and stress on your lower back. It acts like a weightlifting belt; it spreads the load over a wider area, thereby reducing the pressure per square inch.
This will help prevent back strain caused by carrying around heavy gear all day, wrestling suspects, or the day to day strain of bending, twisting and getting in and out of patrol vehicles.
The BackUpBrace does not materially change the duty belt. Equipment can be placed on your duty belt in practically the same way as before. It's almost invisible once worn, and does not alter your appearance in the way suspenders do.
The BackUpBrace works equally well with or without an inner belt.
The BackUpBrace has been a very effective way to relief back pain and stress for individuals in the following industries:
- Law Enforcement
- Border Patrol
- Correctional Services
- Military Police
- Private Security

Purchased this brace after 20 years in Law Enforcement and started to have back pain. Immediate relief!! Helps with posture while standing or sitting a patrol car. It also reliefs pressure from equipment (i.e. handcuffs, flashlights & such) near you back. After a few years of using it, I changed belts & didn’t have a matching brace & started noticing problems again. Immediate went back to my belt with the brace, which quickly relieved issues. When I did, I contacted the company & spoke with the owner & he bent over backwards to help. He was very polite & wanted to make sure I was taken care of. The product & customer service earns 5 stars in my book & I would recommend this to anyone starting out (to prevent issues) or those who are having issues.
So I spent 11 years as a grunt in the Army before getting out and becoming a police officer. As an infantry man younger used to carrying heavy weight, but on your shoulders. As a cop you wear the heavy weight of a duty belt around your waist and that weight pulls down on your hips and applies a lot of pressure to the small of your back, especially after standing many hours.
I was told about the backup brace by another officer I saw wearing it and so I did some research. After reading the reviews I thought I’d try it for myself. Having 3 herniated disks and arthritis in my lower back I figured it wouldn’t make it worse.
I ordered it, and the worst part of the process for me was fitting it on my gun belt in just the right spot. Taking everyone off. Sliding it into place. Putting everything back on just to realize I needed to adjust everything an inch or two one way or another. When I finally got it settled right I put it ok and immediately that first night on duty I felt relief. The weight that had been pressing in on a small area was now spread out over my entire lower back and I felt no pain or discomfort. I couldn’t believe how good it felt.
The pressure was gone. The pulling down on my hips was gone. And I could walk and stand without pain. 4 years later and I still have the same brace on. It’s so good I just got one for my LEO fiancé and although her waist is significantly smaller she loves and swears by it as well. If you’re one of those cops that wants his or her gear customized then I’ll say this is the single list important piece of equipment you’ll add to your duty belt. It’s literally a back saver.
getting in and out of my patrol car hurts my back by the end of the work week, but with this i’m able to handle it a lot easier without being in so much pain. i would recommend it to anyone with a duty belt to save their back. it’s a lot of the same concept as a lifting belt and i really think it’s making a night and day difference.
Lower back pain has been a issue. 100% better since I have put brace on my belt. I strongly recommend this brace.
I have 3 compressed discs in my lower back and multiple sports and military injuries and this brace has eased a lot of my pain from my duty belt. I work as armed security at a Level 1 trauma hospital and sometimes have to stand for 8 hours straight which works my back. Now when I get home i have little to no pain from work and i've also had a lot of other coworkers stop me and ask about it as they interested in getting one too. This is definetly worth it.
